Himalayan black bears live solitary lives. Two cubs are born as the mother hibernates. The cubs suckle and sleep for the next few months. When full grown the diet of the Himalayan black bear is mainly vegetarian. Berries, roots, honey and nuts make up a great portion of their food intake. Himalayan black bears are found throughout Asia, where they are persecuted for Chinese folk medicine.
