Grackle
A large bird, the grackle, can reach 17 inches in length. The grackle belongs to the family
of American orioles, which includes other species such as the cowbird and the oropendola.
These black birds with a brilliant iridescent sheen will often form flocks of several thousand
individuals. These large flocks can be quite a nuisance in urban and rural areas. Grackles
range from Canada to Venezuela.
