The artificial selection of pigeons and doves include such fanciful pigeons as the yellow exhibition homer and the blue-chequer racing pigeon. These birds can be found in almost any major city and are dependent on hand outs to survive. Due to an extremely unbalanced diet, many have become scavengers, even picking at cement to acquire lime to produce egg shells. [BM] {FW}
