Oilbird
The oilbird, 1 ft in length with a 3 ft wingspan, is found in northern South America and on
the island of Trinidad. Being nocturnal birds, like their relatives the nightjars, they use
echo-location to find food and guide them through caves in the black of night. The oilbird
is the only known nocturnal bird to feed on fruit. The oilbird will travel great distances
in search of fruit, and has a very strong sense of smell which assists in the location
process.
