Frogmouth
There are 12 species of frogmouth. Related to the nightjar, the frogmouth has soft, fine
plumage coloured grey or reddish-brown. Ranging in length from 9 to 21 inches the frogmouth
has an extremely large mouth. The frogmouth sits motionless on a perch, catching
unsuspecting insects. Like other relatives of the nightjar, the frogmouth is nocturnal.
Frogmouths can be found in both the tropical forests and bush country of Australia and
southeast Asia.
