This tiny tree frog reaches lengths no greater than 3.2 cm. It is characterized by rough skin which varies in colour from red to brown to black. The snout is pointed and the legs are quite long as can be seen in this photograph. This tree frog can be found along the edge of wetlands, lakes, streams and even ditches. The southern cricket frog is most common in the coastal plains from Virginia to Louisiana.
