HELP INDEX NEXT UP PREVIOUS FEEDBACK ATG Weaver Ant (Order Hymenoptera Family Formicidae)

Weaver ants, like other ants, live in complex social colonies. Ranging in size from 1 to 25 mm, weaver ants are black, brown or red. Most are predators and scavengers. On occasion winged male and female emerge to perform a brief mating flight. After mating the male ants die and the females lose their wings, returning to the ground to start new colonies.
