Tombs

Through excavation, discoveries have been made of Egyptian tomb pyramids which belonged to Pharaohs. Within these tombs are the mummified bodies of king Pharaohs and, occasionally, queens. The bodies of the deceased were carefully mummified through ritual so that the divine ruler might join the gods in the solar beyond. Through mummification the bodies were preserved and statues were often handcrafted that resembled the deceased and magically animated so that the deceased might receive food. [BM] {EM}
