Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh was the hero of an early Babylonianepic story. He was the King who ruled the city of Erech, and was believed to be two-thirds god and one-third human. According to legend, Gilgamesh forced the men in his city to work day and night to strengthen the city walls against attack. The people prayed to the gods to create someone to defeat Gilgamesh so they could stop working so hard and go home to their families. [LH] {CL}
