As is found in many other religions, the god is housed in a temple. A temple dedicated to Re-Atum would hold a handcrafted statue of this god. The statue within its earthly home would be awakened in the morning, washed, anointed with perfume and incense, clothed, and offered food. Such a ritual would be accompanied by words and gestures three times daily. It is interesting to note that the cult of a god is mirrored in the care of the dead.
