HELP INDEX NEXT UP PREVIOUS FEEDBACK ATG Social Structure
Mayan ruins, Tikal, Guatemala The Mayan civilization had a highly organized social structure. The upper classes were far removed from the peasantry. The Mayans used widespread use of terracing on hill sides. This allowed the Mayans to not only grow a great number of crops but they also controlled soil erosion and trapped valuable silt for crops. These ruins are from the ancient city Tikal. Tikal was once a thriving Urban area. [RB] {GC}
