Recent Norway

Norway remained neutral in WWI. During WWII Norway was invaded by Germans and the king of Norway was exiled in England. When the Germans retreated the king returned & the Norwegian economy was quickly restored. Norway was a founding member of the United Nations & joined NATO in 1949. In 1959 Norway joined the European Free Trade Association. In a 1994 referendum Norwegians rejected EU membership. Norway's economy remains strong. [BM] {UA}
