Modern Zambia

In 1891 Rhodesia was declared a British protectorate. Northern Rhodesia was administered by the British South Africa Co. until 1924 at which time colonial rule began. Northern & Southern Rhodesia joined with Nysaland to form the Federation of Rhodesia & Nyasaland in 1953. When this union disolved in 1963 Northern Rhodisia declared independence as Zambia. Southern Rhodesia became Zimbabwe & Nysaland became Malawi. [BM] {UA}
