Modern Venezuela
At the end of the 18th
century Venezuelan society began to rebel against the Spanish empire. Through the wars of
independence Venezuela broke apart from the Spanish empire & joined the federation of Gran
Columbia. The federation
of Gran Columbia included Ecuador & New Granada. By 1830, only 9
years after the union, Gran Columbia was in a state
of political collapse, leading Venezuela
to become an independent republic.
