Venezuela was under dictatorship until democracy was first introduced with a student movement known as Generation of 28. Generation of 28 gave birth to the modern Democratic Action party. At the end of the 1950's, following years of political unrest, the Democratic Action party won the presidency & multiparty democratic politics began in Venezuela. Venezuela continues to face economic & political instability. In 1994 the nation's second largest bank collapsed. [BM] {UA}
