Modern Spain
The Moors lost control of
Spain during the 1400's as Christian kingdoms were united through the marraige of
Ferdinand
of Aragon & Isabella of Castile. Isabella sponsored the great explorer Columbus who claimed
much
territory for Spain's new world empire. The Habsburg dynasty (1516-1700) placed Spain
as one of the most
powerful forces
in the world. This empire controlled most of the Southern
Hemisphere.
