Iberians, Basques & Celts lived in prehistoric Spain. The ports were popular among Phoenician traders. Spain fell to the Roman Empire around 200 BC. In the 5th century Rome lost control of Spain when the Visigoths invaded. The Visigoths introduced Christianity in Spain. In 711 AD the Visigoths lost control of Spain when the Moors invaded from northwest Africa. Under the Moors, Spain grew to be a well cultured & elegant nation. [BM] {UA}
