In 1792 treatrelations were established between Nepal & Great Britain. Between 1814-1816 Nepal fought a border war with British India. As a result Nepal was never incorporated into the British Empire. In 1950 the government, which was composed of heriditary rulers, was overthrown. In place of the government King Tribuhavan was restored. The king & his son introduced democratic reform & improved road & air transportation in an attempt to bring Nepal from isolation. [BM] {UA}
