Modern Mozambique

The Portuguese revolution in 1974 led to the independence of Mozambique. Many of the Portuguese left Mozambique to return to Portugual. This left Mozambique without administrative personnel & support for the infrastructure. In 1975 Mozambique became fully independent. The first president to take office, Samora Michel, was a Marxist.
