Medieval Uganda
Uganda was once home to
several prominent kingdoms. Not least among these kingdoms was Buganda, located on the
fertile
shore of Lake Victoria, centered on the city of Kampala. In 1830 the region of
Uganda fell under the control of Arabs
from the sultanate of Oman. Within several decades
British explorers arrived. The
British established mission stations in 1877. Muslims
destroyed the mission stations & occupied Kampala in 1888.
