The Chinese Communist Party tried to
follow the Soviet example but there was a major difference
between the two economies. The
Soviet Union was communizing a fairly advanced techonological
economy while the Chinese
society was behind in that regard. In order to preserve the communist
ideal, the country had
to shut itself off from much of the world, which served to further stunt
