The country known as Jordan, was divided into Edom, Gilead & Moab in Biblical times. This rock city, Petra, was once the capital of the Edomite & Nabatean kingdoms. This territory was to be assimilated into the Roman Empire & then the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem. Jordan was established as a major center of Christianity. [BM] {UA}
