Rhythm 2

The accent on the 2nd or 3rd beat is imaginary. The fact is that the human brain when it hears regular sounds of any kind is compelled to group them- to supply an emphasis that is not there. Man is a rhythmic animal. This combination of regularity and emphasis is largely what makes up `Rhythm`. The regularity we call Beat or pulse, and the emphasis is Accent. We must have both. [AW] {JO}
