INDEX NEXT UP PREVIOUS ATG Atomic Particles Atomic Particles

Electrons are atomic particles that move through metal wires to conduct electricity. Electrons are negatively charged and move in an area around the nucleus of the atom. In chemical bonding, electrons move between atoms and help join them together. An electron weighs 0.511MeV/c2 or only 9.11x10-31kg. It would take about 1837 electrons to weigh the same as one proton! Electrons do spin and their spin number is 1/2. [LM] {CC}
