Limestone
Limestone is a fine-grained, soft rock that sometimes contains fossil remains. It varies in colour, but is usually white, gray, or black. Calcite is an essential mineral in limestone. This rock is found in many places throughout the world, including Australia and the Rocky Mountains. Chalk is one common variety of limestone. Limestone is used primarily as a building material.
