Marble
Marble is considered both a contact and a regional metamorphic rock. Calcite is the only mineral in pure marble. Pure marble is white, but when minerals other than calcite are present, this rock may be red, green, or brown. When pure limestone undergoes contact metamorphism, marble is formed. Large masses of this rock arelocated in Italy and the United States. Marble is commercially used as a raw material for constructing buildings and sculptures.
