Metamorphic Rock
'Metamorphic' comes from a Greek word meaning 'change of form'. Metamorphic rock is rock
that has been changed by heat or pressure. This rock can be formed from igneous,
sedimentary, or other metamorphic rock. Metamorphic rocks are quite coarse and crystalline.
There are two types of metamorphic rock: regional metamorphic (pressure-formed) and contact
metamorphic (heat-formed).
