Syenite

Syenite is a pale gray, pink, or purple igneous rock that looks similar to granite. Unlike granite, syenite contains little quartz. Feldspar and hornblende are minerals associated with syenite. This rock is not very common, and its formation is not well known. Places where syenite is found include Norway and Germany. When available in substantial quantities, syenite is used as a building material. [LM] {CC} {SS}
