Rhyolite

Rhyolite usually has bands across it, which are full of minerals not visible to the naked eye. This rock can be coloured yellow, red, or gray. Two varieties of rhyolite are obsidian, which is black and glassy, and pumice, which is light and porous. Minerals found in rhyolite include biotite and quartz. Rhyolite can be found in dikes and domes. Prominent rhyolite deposits are located in Ethiopia, Italy, and Japan. Certain types of rhyolite have various uses in industry. [LM] {CC} {SS}
