Gabbro

Gabbro is a gray or black rock that is coarse-grained and often has layers of different minerals. Some minerals that occur in gabbro are labradorite and olivine. This rock forms from the slow cooling of magma that is quite fluid. Italy and Switzerland have significant amounts of gabbro. One variety of gabbro is diabase, which is used in making concrete and roof shingles. [LM] {CC}
