Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO)
Dimethyl sulfoxide, or DMSO, is a colourless, hydrophillic compound that is non-toxic. Its chief
characteristic is its ability to penetrate skin. DMSO comes from lignin, which is produced in
papermaking. DMSO is used in the production of solvents, insecticides, synthetic fibres, and in
medicine.
