Vitamin C - Ascorbic Acid
Vitamin C is also known as ascorbic acid. Early in the 18th Century, a deficiency in vitamin C
led to scurvy, a disease that affected many sailors. Eating citrus fruits prevented scurvy. Ascorbic
acid helps the body maintain the tissue between cells and prevent dental problems such as loose
teeth and bleeding gums. One glass of orange juice a day provides enough vitamin C. To
overcome any potential problems, drink orange juice.
