Amides
Amides represent the group of organic compounds associated with ammonia. Amides are
commonly found in nature, and they are the building blocks of proteins and peptides.
Amides contain a special kind of linkage known as an amide linkage; the bond of an
amide is an amine condensed with an organic acid. Examples of amides include
nylon and urea, which exist in chains, and caffeine, found in coffee, which exists in
a ring.
