DNA: Deoxyribonucleic Acid (Composition)
DNA is an organic compound found in the nucleus of some viruses and all cellular organisms. It
is the genetic material responsible for controlling all life functions. Molecules of DNA are
composed of nucleotides. One nucleotide is composed of a nitrogenous base, a 5-carbon sugar
ring called a deoxyribose, and a phosphate group. There are four types of nitrogenous bases:
adenine, cytosine, guanine, and thymine; therefore, four nucleotides can be produced. MORE!
