Alcohols
An alcohol is an organic compound containing the hydroxyl group. Alcohols are synthesised and
used widely in industry. Methanol can be found in fibres and plastics; it is also being used as an
alternative fuel to gasoline for automobiles. Ethanol is the alcohol found in beer and wine.
