Chalcopyrite
Chalcopyrite (copper iron sulphide) is a golden or brass yellow colour. It often appears quite
metallic, purple, black or iridescent. This widely distributed, very common mineral is found in
many areas worldwide. Chalcopyrite is very important, as it yields approximately 80 percent of
the worlds copper. Large quantities are located in the United States, Zambia, and in Sudbury,
Ontario, Canada.
