Talc
Talc (basic magnesium silicate) can be
identified by its green or white colour and its softness. This very common mineral flakes
easily. It develops in metamorphic rocks, and is usually associated with tremolite. Large
masses of talc are called soapstone. Talc deposits are located in Canada and Austria. Talc
is the basic ingredient in baby powder and in various cosmetics.
