Spodumene (silicate of lithium and aluminum) is a fairly common mineral that can be identified by its vertical striations. It may be coloured gray, green, pink, white, or yellow; the green and pink varieties of spudomene are considered gemstones. This mineral is found in granite that contains lithium.
