Glaucophane (a hydrous silicate containing sodium, magnesium, and aluminum) is a rich blue mineral with a diamond-shaped cross-section. This semi-rare mineral develops in metamorphic rock environments, usually occurring with albite and lawsonite. Glaucophane is found throughout the western Alps and the western United States.
