Dioptase
Dioptase (basic copper silicate) is a
rare mineral, believed to be emerald when it was first mined in Kazakhstan, Russia. This
silicate is made of bright green, stubby crystals. It is hard and heavy. Fairly popular as
jewellery gemstones, famous crystals have come from Namibia, Chile, Zaandiuml;re, and in
Arizona, USA.
