Beryl
Beryl (beryllium aluminum silicate) is
a fairly common mineral, and various colours of beryl are used as gemstones. Emerald is
green beryl, aquamarine is light blue beryl, and morganite is pink beryl. Beryl is quite
hard, and occurs in nature in mineral-rich granite. The varieties of beryl are found
throughout the world. Beryl is commercially mined as a beryllium source and for use in
jewelry-making.
