Augite
Augite (calcium magnesium iron aluminum silicate) is a very common mineral with stubby
crystals. These crystals may be greenish-black or black. It develops in igneous and metamorphic
rocks. Augite is widespread throughout the world; localities include Australia, Germany, and
France. This mineral is of great interest to mineralogists.
