Variscite
Variscite (a hydrated phosphate of aluminum and iron) is a rare green mineral. It occurs in nature
with minerals including limonite and apatite. Variscite forms when water rich in phosphate flows
over rocks rich in aluminum. Locations of variscite include the western United States and
Austria. Variscite is commercially used as a gemstone.
