Lazulite (hydrous magnesium aluminum phosphate) is a rare mineral that can be identified by its bright blue dipyramid-like crystals. In nature, it is found associated with the minerals muscovite and quartz in igneous and regional metamorphic rocks. Masses of lazulite are located in California, USA, and Austria. Its name comes from "lazaward", which is Arabic for heaven and describes its beautiful blue colour. [LM] {CC} {SS}
