Inorganic Compounds
Inorganic compounds are found all over the Earth; examples include rocks, minerals, and water. Inorganic compounds do not contain carbon; carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, carbonates, and cyanates are also considered inorganic. Of the more than 7 million compounds discovered, only about 1 million are inorganic. Inorganic compounds are classified according to the elements they contain. The most common inorganic compounds are minerals.
