Bauxite
Bauxite is actually a mixture of three minerals, which are all hydrated aluminum oxides: gibbsite,
boehmite, and diaspore. These soft minerals may be brown, red, yellow, gray, or white. Bauxite
is a byproduct of chemical changes in other aluminum-rich minerals. Gibbsite can be found in
Brazil, boehmite in France, and diaspore in Greece. These minerals are the world's main source
of aluminum.
