Fluorite
Fluorite (calcium fluoride) receives its name from the Latin "fluere", meaning "to flow", because
it melts easily when heated and is used in the smelting process of steel. The perfectly square
cubes of fluorite crystals come in a wide variety of colours including purple, yellow, and blue;
pure fluorite is colourless. Fluorite is very common, having minable masses in England, Mexico,
Italy and Ontario, Canada.
