Borates

Borate minerals contain the boron-oxygen group compounded with one or more metallic elements. Two types of borate minerals exist. Anhydrous (without water) borates are quite rare; these minerals are heavy and dark-coloured. Hydrous (with water) borates are more common; these minerals are soft, brittle and colourless or white.
