What are Borates?

Borate Minerals contain the Boron-Oxygen group compounded with one or more metallic elements. Two types of Borate Minerals exist. Anhydrous (without water) Borates are quite rare. These Minerals are heavy and dark-coloured. Hydrous (with water) Borates are more common. These Minerals are soft, brittle and colourless or white. [LM] {CC}
