Mimetite (arsenate containing lead and chlorine) is a rare mineral that is yellow, orange, brown or colourless. It is heavy and fragile, and develops in areas bearing other arsenic minerals. Mimetite is very similar to another mineral called pyromorphite. From this similarity, the Greek name "mimetes" or "imitator" has been given to this mineral. It can be found in many places, including England, Germany, and Namibia. Mimetite is a source of lead. [BM] {CC} {SS}
