Perrier and Segre discovered Techtenium in Italy in 1937.
It has been found in the spectrum of S- , M- , and N-type stars, but not in anything on earth.
Technetium is known to inhibit the corrosion of steel.
Isotopes of Technetium produce energetic gamma rays.
The name is derived from the Greek word technetos which means artificial.
